UCDSB hands out awards of excellence

Melanie Dorion, the intermediate office assistant at North Grenville District High School, is one of the recipients of the Upper Canada District School Board Service Excellence Awards.  Ms. Dorion is described as a people person who is helpful, kind and truly cares about all North Grenville students. She works particularly hard to be helpful to intermediate students who may be struggling with the transition to high school, making them feel welcomed and most importantly, that they belong.

Debbie Connell, office administrator at Centennial ’67 Public School is being recognized for her outstanding service as the “first smiling face” people see while entering her school. She makes it a priority to know each student and parent by name, offering a personable touch. She also serves as the school’s “nurse and doctor,” school photographer, accountant, confidante, cheerleader, and friend.  Her limitless positive energy, infectious laugh and smile brightens the day of all those around her.

These two local women were among about 80 people recognized Monday night during the 2015 Upper Canada District School Board Celebration Night at North Grenville District High School. The board presented several awards during the evening, including the Director’s Extra Mile Club Awards, Kermit Awards, Volunteer of the Year Awards, the OPC Award of Character, and the Service Excellence Awards.
