North Grenville Fire Chief Paul Hutt participated in a First Responders’ session regarding emergency management of the TransCanada pipeline. The program dealt with Preparedness, Infrastructure, Plans and Training at a high level to engage agencies and get stakeholders together to develop an emergency plan. Hutt said TransCanada insists the pipeline is the safest of all methods of oil transport, including truck and rail. The Energy East pipeline project has entered the approval process with the National Energy Board, submitting a project description.
