Merrickville Mayor Doug Struthers has released his council’s discussion paper on the Energy East pipeline project. The Ontario Minister of Energy has asked for input from affected communities. Merrickville council notes the potential negative impact the pipeline could have on the World Heritage Site Designation of the Rideau Canal. Also of concern is the potential negative impact on the aquifer. 2/3 of Merrickville households depend on this aquifer for potable water.
