North Grenville Fire Service issues total fire ban

That’s from Randy Urslak, North Grenville’s Deputy Fire Chief. The fire department issued a total fire ban at noon Monday.

While the ban is in effect, all open-air burning in the municipality is not allowed. That includes things like campfires, brush fires, burn drums, and outdoor fireplaces. However, barbecuing is still allowed.

All burn permits within North Grenville have been suspended.

According to North Grenville’s bylaws, if you violate a fire ban, you could face hundreds of dollars in fines.

Urslak says the ban has been put in place because of hot, dry conditions in our region that began last week, and that it’ll be re-evaluated as the weather changes.

You can call North Grenville’s burning hotline at 613-706-1770 for the latest information on what’s allowed.
