New lights for Riverside Park outdoor rink being voted on next week

Some new lights could be added to the plans for Riverside Park’s outdoor hockey rink.

Council will vote next week on an addition to the park expansion project that’ll see two lights installed next to the rink, so residents can use it after dark.

If they’re approved, the lights will be built by the same company that’s currently working on the rest of the project, including renovations to the pool house and a splash pad.

They’ll increase the cost of the project by $45,366.27.

According to a report from municipal staff, that cost will be worked into a financing plan and be paid for gradually, rather than coming out of this year’s municipal budget.

Council votes on whether to add the lights onto the project at their next meeting on June 6th.
