CHEO resuming treatment of older teen patients

The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario is once again treating older teens.

CHEO had suspended emergency and inpatient care of sixteen and seventeen olds as the hospital dealt with a surge in respiratory illnesses.

During that time, older children were sent to adult hospitals in the Ottawa area.

Hospital officials say the number of patients with respiratory illnesses they are seeing has started to stabilize.

This news comes on the heels of Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital announcing they will begin to perform surgeries again after having stopped to deal with the crushing pressure of influenza, RSV, and COVID-19.
