Two wolves sighted at Ferguson Forest Centre

The Ferguson Forest Centre had some unexpected visitors on the weekend.

Members of the Friends of the Ferguson Forest Centre, a volunteer organization that helps with maintenance for the facility, say two wolves were spotted in the northern tree nursery fields on Sunday.

According to a post on the group’s social media pages, the animals were spotted by “a reliable source who recognizes the difference between wolves and coyotes.”

Members say they were likely a male and female pair, and that most encounters between wolves and humans are “distant, with nothing to fear.”

You can visit the Friends of the Ferguson Forest Centre’s Facebook page to see a map with the area the animals were seen in highlighted and more information on what to do if you see one yourself.
