Moose FM hosting “Spirit of Giving” Salvation Army fundraiser this weekend

We’re hosting an event to help the Kemptville Salvation Army raise money for its food bank and holiday initiatives.

97.5 Moose FM will be broadcasting live for its “Spirit of Giving” at the Canadian Tire in Kemptville on Saturday, November 12th, to bring in donations for the organization.

Players from the Kemptville 73s, members of the North Grenville Fire Service, OPP officers, and other community figures will also be in attendance.

Donations of money and non-perishable food will be accepted. You’ll also be able to purchase pre-made bags of groceries that will be donated to the organization at Food Basics, B&H Your Community Grocer, and Jonsson’s Independent Grocer.

Salvation Army member Calvin Wong says demand is higher than ever for the organization’s services.

“The need has really increased since COVID,” Wong says. “We used to do about 37 families every week, and that’s basically tripled, pretty much from the beginning of COVID until now.”

Wong says the rising prices of gas, food and housing have been major contributors to the rise in demand.

“There’s a lot of challenges out there that we face, but the need is great, and we feel that food is something that is practical, something everybody needs, a basic necessity, and so we try to do as much as we can in that regard,” he says.

We’ll be broadcasting live from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM if you want to stop by and donate.
