Ontario Fish and Wildlife: controlled deer draw coming earlier next year

You’ll have a few more weeks to start planning your deer hunt in 2023.

Ontario Fish and Wildlife has announced that, beginning next year, you’ll be able to enter the controlled deer tag draw from July 1st to 31st, and results will become available on September 1st.

The change, which will see the tags become available nearly six weeks earlier than they were this year, was reportedly made due to feedback from hunters who wanted more time to plan once they learned how many tags they received.

Tags that aren’t claimed will be made available to hunters one week after the results are released, on September 8th.

You can learn more about deer hunting regulations on the Ontario government’s website.
