The North Grenville Fire Service is asking drivers to keep some spare change on hand ahead of the long weekend.
Shannon Armitage, a Fire Prevention Officer with the service, says firefighters will be running a Boot Drive to raise money for charity.
“This is a 67-year partnership with Muscular Dystrophy,” Armitage says, “where firefighters collect donations that go directly towards Muscular Dystrophy Canada. 600 fire departments across Canada continue to participate in this initiative.”
Armitage says firefighters will be collecting cash donations outside Station 1, on County Road 44, in an attempt to fill a large boot with the money. She says some will also be at other high-traffic areas in town collecting donations.
“Watch out for North Grenville firefighters, and maybe have a little bit of spare change handy if possible,” Armitage adds.
The Boot Drive is happening Friday, October 7th, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
