If you’re visiting friends or family in Winchester next month, you might notice discolored tap water in their home.
The Township of North Dundas has announced plans to flush water hydrants throughout the village starting October 3rd.
While the flushing is happening, and for a short time after, tap water in residents’ homes might sometimes come out discolored.
According to township staff, this is normal for hydrant flushing, and doesn’t pose a health risk.

Anyone who notices the discolored water is being told to run cold water through their taps until the colour returns to normal.
The flushing is expected to end on October 28th. The Township website has a phone number residents can call with any questions.
