Ontario government: take down your bird feeders

As animals prepare for winter, Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is offering some advice for people who don’t want unexpected visitors this fall.

In a social media post, the ministry is urging residents to take down their bird feeders.

According to the Ministry, bears enjoy eating the bird seed inside, and might enter your yard looking for a snack if you have a feeder out.

The post says it’ll be safe to put them back out once winter comes and bears begin to hibernate.

Until then, it says you should store your feeder indoors, where wild animals can’t access them.
