Habitat for Humanity hosting “Kemptville Korners Community Kickoff” this weekend

The team behind an affordable housing project in Kemptville is inviting the community to a public celebration in a few days.

The Greater Ottawa and Thousand Islands chapters of Habitat for Humanity are inviting North Grenville residents to a “Community Kickoff” event for their in-progress “Kemptville Korners” housing development.

According to Greater Ottawa branch Communications Officer Taylor Mueller, the event will be family friendly, with activities available for people who bring their kids.

“There will be pumpkin painting and a colouring station, a maze for kids made out of ICF blocks [the blocks being used to build the homes], a refreshment centre, a section for fall family photos and more,” Mueller explains.

The Kemptville Korners development, announced earlier this year, will feature fifteen houses intended for low-income families in the area, and is expected to be completed over the next two years.

Mueller says people who attend will be able to tour the build site and learn more about the homes.

Anyone considering applying to live in one of the homes, or volunteering to work on the development, can visit Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa’s website for more information.

If you’re interested in attending the Community Kickoff, it’s happening Saturday, October 1st, at the Kemptville Campus, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
