SD&G United Counties lay sand across County Road 43 after “presumed oil spill”

Workers with the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) are encouraging drivers to be observant going east of Kemptville.

According to staff, sand has been laid across the eastbound lane of County Road 43 between Kemptville and Winchester, to absorb what’s being called a “presumed oil spill” on social media.

The spill, which occurred Tuesday morning, caused the roads to close for roughly an hour while a cleanup crew was sent to the area.

United Counties workers say the sand is expected to be cleared Tuesday evening or on Wednesday. In the meantime, you’re being urged to drive carefully through the area.
