Grenville County OPP detachment announces plans for Provincial Recruitment Day

The local OPP detachment is hosting an event this weekend for people interested in becoming police officers.

Provincial Constable Dave Holmes says the Grenville County squad will be hosting an event to mark “Provincial Recruitment Day,” alongside dozens of other detachments across Ontario.

“With hundreds of members eligible for retirement over the next few years, there has never been a better time to apply to the OPP,” Holmes says. “Whether you are interested in becoming a police officer, auxiliary member [volunteer] or working in a civilian role, the OPP has a job opportunity for you.”

Holmes says post-secondary education in law or security isn’t required, but is considered an asset. “The OPP assesses applicants based on a positive background, maturity, effective interpersonal and communication skills, ability to balance finances and other responsibilities, and those who respect and support inclusiveness and diversity,” he explains.

The event is happening at the police station in Prescott on October 1st.

If you’re interested in taking part, he says you’ll need to register in advance here. The last day you can register is September 28th.
