Ontario SPCA and Humane Society launches “Draws for Paws” fundraising raffle

More than $6,000 in prizes are on the line in a fundraising draw a local animal shelter and charity is organizing.

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and Humane Society, a charity that runs animal shelters across the province, has launched ticket sales for what it’s calling its “Draws for Paws” 50/50 raffle.

According to Marianne Carlyle, the manager of the organization’s Leeds-Grenville shelter, the guaranteed prize for the final draw is $6,500, and there are two $500 early bird draws scheduled during October.

“This is a new approach to raising funds for the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society, which has been helping animals since 1873,” Carlyle says. “This is a rewarding and positive way for people across the province to make a real difference in the lives of animals who need our help.”

“Funds from [the raffle] will provide urgently needed care and shelter for homeless animals at the Ontario SPCA`s 12 animal centres,” Carlyle explains, “and support animals in communities across the province through Ontario SPCA mobile spay/neuter programs, animal transfers, pet food distribution and humane education.”

Tickets cost $10 for a pack of 10, $20 for 40, or $40 for 200. The early bird draws are happening October 7th and 21st, and the final draw is November 4th. You can find info on how to buy tickets on the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society website.
