Health Unit: Pfizer’s pediatric COVID-19 vaccine now available for local kids

Staff from the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit say parents in the region have a new option to protect their young children against COVID-19.

According to the organization, Pfizer’s pediatric COVID-19 vaccine is now available through its booking systems.

This vaccine, for kids between six months and five years old, is the second of its kind, with Moderna’s offering being made available in the summer.

The Pfizer vaccine is given to kids in three doses, with three weeks between the first and second shots, and eight weeks between the second and third.

If you want to book an appointment for your child, Health Unit staff say you’ll need to use its vaccine call centre, since pediatric vaccines aren’t available using its online booking portal or the provincial system.

You can find a number for the call centre, or more information on COVID-19 vaccines, on the Health Unit’s website.
