Municipality of North Grenville raising flag to celebrate Franco-Ontarian Day

A new flag will be flying outside the North Grenville Municipal Centre next week.

Municipal Council is hosting a ceremony where the Franco-Ontarian flag will be raised on Monday, September 26th.

The ceremony will commemorate Franco-Ontarian Day.

Originally celebrated in 2010 after being proclaimed by the provincial government, the day is meant to recognize the Francophone community’s “contribution to the development of Ontario’s culture, history, society, economy and political structure,” according to North Grenville Corporate Media Relations Officer Jill Sturdy.

“Representatives from l’école élémentaire publique Rivière Rideau and l’Académie catholique Notre-Dame will be in attendance, as well as members of the North Grenville Council,” Sturdy adds.

If you want to attend, it’s happening at 1:00 PM Monday.
