Young aspiring filmmakers only have a few weeks left to make their submissions for a contest with $2,000 in prizes on the line.
The deadline for submissions to this year’s MyView Youth Film Festival is October 1st. The festival started as a North Grenville-centric event in 2013, but has since expanded across the entire Leeds-Grenville area and several other nearby communities.
$1,000 from this year’s prize pool will go towards the best overall entry. Other prizes are also available for the best submission in each of three age categories, plus a $750 “I Love My Community” prize for a submission that spotlights the creator’s hometown.
The festival is open to entries from people ages 10-24. Festival founder John Barclay says he’s excited to see this year’s submissions.
“I’m looking forward again to seeing the creativity and imagination of young film-makers as they communicate what’s important to them,” Barclay says. “This year I’m especially eager to see entrants from more Eastern Ontario communities.”
