A Kemptville-based performing company is celebrating its first show since the start of the pandemic by raising money for a local charity.
The Academy of Expressive Dance, a studio founded in 1991 that offers dance courses for all ages, is making its final preparations for a show it calls “SHiNE.”
Promotional material for the event calls it “an original story told through dance and music,” and it’s being directed by Andrea Gaw-Prekob, the studio’s founder.
“Told through ballet and jazz, every student – ages 3 through adult – at the Academy is showcased and a part of the story,” the studio’s website reads.
The performance is happening at the Urbandale Arts Centre in Kemptville on June 4th and 5th. Tickets cost $25 right now, but the price will increase to $30 on the day of the event.
Two dollars from every ticket sold is being donated to Connect Youth, a Prescott-based charity that runs temporary housing programs and other initiatives to help struggling kids in the Leeds-Grenville region.
