“We look forward to welcoming them back:” Mayor Peckford on cancelled Buskerfest concert

North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford has some kind words for musicians Jenie Thai and Miss Emily after the cancellation of a planned show in Kemptville.

Peckford says the two were ready to perform at the “Kemptville Buskerfest After Hours Concert” on Saturday before a power outage caused by the storm that swept through the area that day prevented them from taking the stage.

“They were gracious and understanding when the show, ultimately, couldn’t go on,” Peckford says, “and we look forward to welcoming them back again when the time is right.”

The concert was meant to be part of an afterparty for Kemptville Buskerfest, a street performance festival held earlier on Saturday.

Mayor Peckford is thanking the volunteers who helped make Buskerfest happen, as well as Jamming Around Man Productions, a Kemptville-based sound production company, for their work setting up for the concert prior to the power outage.

“The extreme weather event that took place on Saturday was obviously an unexpected & unfortunate development,” she says.

“Ultimately, the Municipality of North Grenville was not as hard hit as areas to the north and we are grateful that despite some property damage, everyone managed to safely weather the storm.”
