Kemptville Navy League seeking volunteers for multiple board positions

After four deferrals, the Kemptville Navy League is making plans for its Annual General Meeting, and League board member Peter Milsom says he’s excited.

“I’m on the fifth year of a two-year term, which should really tell you something,” Milsom says. “COVID has really put the fox amongst the chickens, as far as finding our board members.”

The Navy League organizes and runs two Cadet programs – one “Navy League Cadet Corps” for children ages 9-12, and one “Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps” for older kids.

The League is entirely volunteer-run, and funded by government investments and fundraising events in town.

Milsom says the organization has several vacancies on its board of directors that it’s hoping to fill at the meeting.

“We’re looking for a president, a secretary and a vice president,” he says. Other openings the League needs volunteers for include positions for public relations and communications, marketing and recruitment, and a vacancy on the organization’s fundraising team.

“We meet once a month, for an hour and a half on Saturday mornings,” Milsom says. “And it’s never more than that.”

If you’re interested in learning more about any of the positions that are open on the Navy League’s board of directors, you can attend the Annual General Meeting on Thursday, April 28th. It’s being held at the Blake Williamson Memorial Armory.
