North Grenville officially lifts Municipal Emergency Order

For the first time since March of 2020, the Municipality of North Grenville is no longer in a state of emergency.

Municipal council unanimously agreed to lift the Emergency Order, first put in place more than two years ago, at a meeting last night.

Mayor Nancy Peckford says leaving the order active for as long as council did came from a desire to keep the community, and municipal staff, safe from COVID-19.

“This is one more milestone in our journey towards recovery from the pandemic,” she says.

Peckford is still urging everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19, or to get a booster shot if they’ve already had their first two doses.

“We know many continue to be affected directly and indirectly as new COVID variants circulate,” she says. “Please continue to follow public health recommendations to keep everyone safe.”

If you’d like to book an appointment to get vaccinated, visit the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit’s website.
