School Board to bring mobile training labs to select high schools

Students will get a first-hand look at the skilled trades, thanks to the Upper Canada District School Board.

The Board has secured the St. Lawrence College Mobile Skills Lab, which will visit 11 secondary schools throughout the region to teach students some introductory carpentry, welding, electrical, fitness, nutrition and culinary skills.

The mobile labs will start out in April, and last until late June. They will make stops at the Smith Falls District Collegiate Institute the week of April 19th, South Grenville District High School in Prescott on the week of May 9th and Seaway District High School in Iroquois on the week of May 16th. Other stops will happen at schools in Carleton Place, Perth, Brockville, Avonmore, Rockland and Cornwall.
