North Grenville marks International Day of Forests

Mayor Nancy Peckford is praising the work done in North Grenville as the municipality marks International Day of Forests.

Mayor Peckford says that the township is fortunate to have so much green space, with over 16,000 acres of combined woodland between the Furgeson Forest Centre and Limerick Forest. With such forest cover, Peckford says that this gives North Grenville twice as much forested space than most Canadian cities.

The Furgeson Forest Centre is one of the largest suppliers of tree seedlings and nursery stock in Eastern Ontario according to president Carl Doucette. Limerick Forest, managed by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, offers 180 kilometres of multi-use trails.

International Day of Forests falls on March 21st of each year.
