“It has been an absolute pleasure:” North Grenville Deputy Mayor stepping down

Jim McManaman is moving out of North Grenville.

In a press release Monday morning, municipal council says McManaman, North Grenville’s Deputy Mayor, will be vacating his seat on February 24th. The announcement comes after McManaman’s family purchased a business in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Mayor Nancy Peckford, who was elected alongside McManaman in 2018, is thanking him for his time with the community. “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Jim over the last three years,” she says, “and while we are certainly sad to see him go, we wish him and his wife, Cathy, all the best in their next adventure.”

Starting Tuesday, North Grenville will be accepting applications from people in the community interested in filling McManaman’s seat. Applications will be accepted until February 17th at noon. Applicants need to be at least 18, and must live in North Grenville, own property in the municipality, or be married to someone who does. For more details, visit the Municipality’s website.
