North Grenville COVID-19 Assessment Centre transitions to “DIY collection centre”

If you’re looking for a PCR COVID-19 testing kit in North Grenville, you can now grab one near the Kemptville Campus.

The municipality says its COVID-19 assessment centre is transitioning into what it calls a “DIY Collection Centre”, distributing and collecting PCR test kits. Just like before, you still need to book an appointment to receive a testing kit.

Dr. Suzanne Rutherford, a Medical Director with the nearby Kemptville District Hospital and one of the doctors who help out with the Assessment Centre, says the change is being made to help limit staff contact with people who may have the virus. “By transitioning to a DIY Collection Centre, we will be minimizing the face-to-face interactions with patients and limit the exposure risk for our team,” she says. “The safety of our staff is paramount.”

In order to book an appointment, you need to be eligible for testing. Visit the Ontario government’s website to see if you qualify.
