UPDATE: Kemptville District Minor Hockey Association pauses all activity, reevaluating January 2nd

“This is a difficult step to take but necessary to slow COVID spread.”

That’s an executive from the Kemptville District Minor Hockey Association, speaking on the organization’s decision to stop practices and other activities. Earlier this week, the organization, which lets local kids compete against teams throughout the region, suspended its season but said practices would be continuing.

“KDMHA has been keeping up to date on the continuing increase in COVID cases in our community and the impacts it is having on our families,” the organization says. “It is with this in mind that a pause on all KDMHA activities will begin as of 4 p.m. December 22nnd through January 2.”

The organization says after January 2nd, it will reassess the situation, alongside local government and the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit. “We look forward to getting back to the rink as soon as possible,” it says. “We wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season.”
