Moose FM radiothon raises over $17,000 for Kemptville Salvation Army

Four rare hockey cards, two Ottawa Senators tickets and a 29 pound turkey were all given in exchange for donations at Moose FM’s Salvation Army Radiothon.

The event, which ran from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on December 10th, raised approximately $17,200 dollars for the local charity branch, with the final total still being calculated. The money is going towards funding the organization’s food bank and other local initiatives. According to Calvin Wong, a Pastor and Director with the Salvation Army and one of the organizers for the radiothon, 100 per cent of the money is going back into the community.

The hockey cards and Ottawa Senators tickets were provided by members of the community, and were auctioned off for $425 and $300, respectively. The turkey, provided by a nearby farm, was given to a local in exchange for a $120 donation.

The Salvation Army is still accepting donations at all of its kettles throughout the area, as well as in-person donations of money and food at its Thrift Store in Kemptville.
