Health Unit: COVID-19 booster shot appointments available to people 50+ starting December 13

If you were born in 1971 or earlier, the health unit is encouraging you to call your doctor and book a third COVID-19 vaccine appointment later this month.

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit says people ages 50 and older will be able to book an appointment for a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine starting December 13th. Anyone who is otherwise healthy is eligible for the shot 168 days after their second dose, according to the health unit.

Additionally, people receiving dialysis are eligible to book a third shot of the vaccine 56 days after their second dose, effective immediately.

Anyone younger than 70 booking a booster dose is being asked by the health unit to go to either their own doctor or a pharmacy for it, if they can, so community clinics have room for children ages 5-11 and people 70 and older to get their vaccines.
