Leeds, Grenville and Lanark’s top doctor wins United Way award

The Medical Officer of Health for Leeds, Grenville and Lanark, Dr. Paula Stuart, has been named one of the recipients of the United Way Eastern Ontario Community Builder of the Year Award.

The charity praised Dr. Stuart’s work through the pandemic, highlighting her time as a speaker with the Lanark Successful Aging Seniors Council, and her support of youth substance abuse program Planet Youth Lanark. They also praised her frequent appearances on local radio throughout the pandemic, where they say she helped to provide accurate information to people who may not be able to find it online or on social media.

The United Way Community Builder Award is a yearly honour that wishes to highlight “volunteers and champions” of the community that work to make those communities better. Other recipients of this year’s award include Dr. Vera Etches of Ottawa Public Health, and Dr. Robert Cushman of the Renfrew County and District Health Unit.
