North Grenville Curling Club preparing for 2021 season

Registration opens soon for the 2021 season of the North Grenville Curling Club.

Shawn Berube, the club’s communications and public relations chair, says that the league will be open to people of all ages and different levels of skill.

“There’s lots of older curlers that could teach the younger ones a lesson or two, so our structure is really to provide a wide variety of different types of leagues,” Berube says.

“That could be a men’s league, a women’s league, there are competitive leagues, daytime or evening leagues, so there’s lots of different options for people depending on if they’re looking for a competitive edge to the curling, or just to get out and try the sport in a more social setting.”

Berube also says that the club is “very close” to finalizing its safety regulations for the return to play.

“It was something that we started last season. Unfortunately, we couldn’t have a curling season, just based on the level of restrictions that were in place. But, for this year, our focus is on the health and safety of our members. We’ve taken time to go through all the guidance from the government, local health, both the Canadian and Ontario curling associations, and our own Return to Curling committee.”

Registration opens on September 1st, with two in-person registration days planned for the 16th and the 18th. Visit their website for more details.
