Beth Donovan Hospice organizing COVID-19 Loss Support Group for September

Beth Donovan Hospice is organizing a COVID-19 Loss Support Group, to help people in Kemptville struggling to cope with feelings of loss and guilt during the ongoing pandemic.

Integrated Counselling Therapist Megan Dillenbeck says there’s a great need in the community for struggling people to have a support framework.

“We just want to create a place for the community to come together and speak towards those losses, and have them shared rather than all of us carrying them alone,” Dillenbeck says. “Then, maybe learn tools for how to process the losses.”

Dillenbeck says the group is planning to meet in person, at the hospice. Due to health and safety protocols, people are being asked to register in advance for the group.

“We can only have about ten people in the hospice, safely distanced and masked,” she says. “It’s also a closed group, so people that do register would be asked to attend at least five, hopefully, all of the six sessions.”

The support group will begin on September 21st, meeting once a week from 10:00 to 11:30 in the morning for six weeks.

Interested people are asked to go to the hospice’s website, or call at 613-258-9611 to register.
