Kemptville Farmers Market Set To Open Sunday

The Kemptville Farmers Market is set to open for the first time this season.

To help mark the Victoria Day long weekend, the market will open for its 15th season on Sunday.

Manager for the Farmers Market Stacey Johnson says due to COVID-restrictions, they will only have food vendors for their first outing.

She says they will look to gradually add more vendors as the summer rolls along.

“We have many vendors excited about the season,” Johnson said. “Unfortunately for the first couple of weeks, we can only invite agricultural vendors because food is on the list of essential items according to the health unit.”

The market runs every Sunday from 12-4 p.m., in the B&H Grocer parking lot.

Johnson says just like last year, the health and safety of customers and vendors is the number one priority.

“So we’ll have about half the capacity of vendors so they have more space between booths,” Johnson said. “We also have to limit the number of customers, so we will be counting people and there will be lineups.”
