Old Town Kemptville BIA Elects New Board Chair

The Old Town Kemptville BIA has named its new Board Chair.

At their last meeting, the BIA selected Meagan Cumming to lead the organization until the end of the Board’s term in December of 2022.

Cumming, who is also CEO of the Kemptville Stress Relief Centre, assumes the role from the Interim Chair William Pearl, who took over the position from longtime Board Chair Debbie Wilson back in March.

Cumming says she looks forward to continuing Wilson’s legacy of supporting downtown Kemptville.

“I can’t wait to get out there, get some work done, and continue to build connections with other businesses and community members,” Cumming said. “When it’s safe to do so, I’m looking forward to getting to know every downtown business owner, and seeing how the BIA can support them.”

Cumming says that Wilson’s leadership guided the BIA through many changes and was the primary reason for many of the BIA’s accomplishments.

Already a frequent customer of downtown retailers, restaurants and coffee shops, Cumming says she hopes to encourage many more people to enjoy the downtown.

“Of course, it’s still tough times, so my priority is making sure that we’re continuing to promote all the great things downtown has to offer, communicating about the relief programs that are available, and making sure the downtown continues to be a fun and safe place to be,” she said.

Cumming adds it’s an honour to be named the BIA’s Board Chair, and she’s excited for the road ahead.
