Spencerville TNR Cat Rescue Organizes Mother’s Day Jewelry Auction

A local cat rescue is looking to raise funds through an online auction.

Spencerville TNR Cat Rescue is hosting its Mother’s Day Jewelry Auction to pay for the vetting and sterilization of stray cats in the community.

Hundreds of pieces of jewelry are up for grabs, such as rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and handmade suncatchers.

Auction Coordinator Colleen Morris-Wilson says the auction is a way to buy jewelry, while helping cats at the same time.

“In this auction, we have a lot of sterling silver, a lot of gemstones, we have diamond and emerald rings, and we have a very lovely vintage sapphire and gold ring,” Morris-Wilson said. “It’s the kind of ring you’d see your mom would’ve worn as an engagement ring in the 1940s.”

The money raised will ensure all rescued cats get their shots, and that they get spayed or neutered.

Morris-Wilson says items will continue to be added throughout the auction.

“There’s about 110 pieces in the auction so far, and there are 60 more pieces to be put in,” she said. “Once it’s closed, I’ll be contacting everyone and we’ll be arranging for safe methods to ensure everyone gets their jewelry.”

Morris-Wilson says the rescue is also looking for volunteers and kitty foster parents.

Anyone interested can contact the rescue directly  or through Facebook.

The auction runs from April 22-28, and items will be available for pickup on April 30.
