OPP Remind Public To Use Appropriate Websites And Phone Numbers Regarding Stay-At-Home Order

The OPP is letting residents know who to call if they have questions regarding the stay-at-home order.

Over the weekend, Grenville County OPP received numerous calls from residents requesting information about the recent changes announced by the province last week.

As a result, Constable Dave Holmes says they are asking the public to use the proper avenues to obtain this information.

“The Stay-At-Home Order Information website, where the government of Ontario posts updated releases – this is where you can learn more about the order itself, what it means, and how it may impact them,” Holmes said. “As well as the Reopening Ontario Act website where it outlines police enforcement when it comes to the order.”

Holmes says since the province’s announcement Friday, they’ve been inundated with phone calls which have overwhelmed the detachment.

He notes this is simply a reminder that 911 is reserved for life-threatening and emergency situations only.

“And also, it’s a reminder that we have a non-emergency number where people can contact police and speak with a local officer about some of the issues they’re experiencing,” Holmes said.

For all non-emergency calls – including allegations of non-compliance of COVID-19 restrictions, you’re asked to contact your municipal by-law office, or call the OPP non-emergency number at 1-888-310-1122.
