Online Art Auction Looks To Raise Funds For Winchester District Memorial Hospital

An online art auction is looking to raise funds for the Winchester District Memorial Hospital.

Carrie O’Neill is a Winchester-based artist who is looking to show support for the hospital foundation by selling her work.

With the pandemic, she says it’s been hard to sell her work since art shows have been cancelled, and as a result she has multiple paintings to give away.

“I wanted to show appreciation for the fact that we have a hospital, and they’ve been working so hard during this time of COVID,” she said. “The other thing is, I’m a very prolific painter who has a great deal of artwork that has nowhere to go at this time.”

The online auction will take place throughout April on Facebook.

Each day, a new painting will be posted, and viewers can begin bidding.

Bidding will close each night at midnight, and the next morning, O’Neill will announce the winner and post a new painting.

O’Neill, who’s had a few past health issues, says this is just her way to show her gratitude to local healthcare.

“When I moved back here, I thought this is so wonderful to have our system of health here, and thank goodness it is so good,” she said. “You might have to wait for some things to get done but it is a wonderful system and I want to support it all I can.”
