North Grenville Councillor Tests Positive For COVID-19

A North Grenville council member has tested positive for COVID-19.

On Tuesday, Councillor Doreen O’Sullivan announced on her Facebook that she had tested positive for the virus this past Sunday.

O’Sullivan, who works as a nurse at the Ottawa Hospital, says she received her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on March 5, but it did not give her complete immunity to the virus.

“It felt like I had a bad cold, it felt like I was maybe even getting a flu bug,” O’Sullivan said. “I had large muscle aches like my hamstrings were really aching a lot and I’ve been very congested, stuffed up, had headaches, and fatigue.”

According to O’Sullivan, she contracted the virus through her grandson who attends Academie Catholique Notre Dame

Her grandson had tested positive on March 15th, and O’Sullivan says she and her husband have since been in self-isolation.

“We’ve been isolated since then, and I did not get symptoms until the 18th,” O’Sullivan said. “So, there’s fortunately no contact tracing to be done for me in the community, I have not been out in the community since the 14th.”

O’Sullivan also wants to thank the community for the kind messages her family has received during this time.
