COVID-19 Outbreak Declared At Academie Catholique Notre Dame, School Closed Until Further Notice

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at a French catholic school in Kemptville.

In an email to MyKemptvilleNow, the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit confirmed 8 cases at Academie catholique Notre Dame.

Some of the individuals who previously tested positive have also screened positive for a Variant of Concern.

The health unit  is monitoring the situation and has contacted and isolated all persons who have had a high risk exposure.

As a result, the school is now closed to all students until further notice.

The health unit adds that it is reviewing data in the case database to determine the number of variant cases that have been reported.

The public health lab and other labs do VOC screening on most positive lab results for COVID-19.

This identifies that the specimen is one of the three circulating VOCs.

We’ll have more information on this outbreak as it becomes available.
