UPDATE: Reporting Error Shows Two Active Cases At Académie Catholique Notre-Dame, Not Seven

A reporting error is being rectified that reported multiple cases of COVID-19 at Academie Catholique Notre-Dame in Kemptville.

Earlier today, the province was reporting on it’s website that seven staff at the school had tested positive for COVID-19.

That number is now being changed to 2 active cases, following word from the school and the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.

In a statement from the school, they say the reporting error has seen one active case listed multiple times.

“Unfortunately, the one active case of COVID-19 has been listed more than once, which explains why three cases were listed on the official website of the Ontario Government for elementary, and four for secondary. That being said, the local Public health unit has just yet announced to us that a second case of Covid-19 had been listed.”

According to the health unit, students and staff are not at risk as the initial case was not at the school while infectious and continues to remain in self isolation.

The health unit is closely monitoring the situation and will inform the school community as needed.

“We are working to rectify the data and sent a letter to the parents to inform them of the situation and reassure them,” the school added. “We are truly sorry for the inconvenience this situation may have caused. We prioritize transparent communication with the school community, and the safety and well-being of everyone is part of our top-priorities.”
