Ontario reports record highs in daily COVID-19 case count and deaths

Ontario is reporting record highs in both its daily COVID-19 case count and deaths.

The province added 3,519 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, it’s highest one day count since the pandemic began.

Another 89 people have died from the virus in Ontario with 43 of those residents of long-term care homes.

Seventy per cent of Thursday’s cases are in the GTHA and southern Ontario with nearly 65,800 tests completed over the last day.

Test positivity, the percentage of tests coming back positive, is at 6.1 per cent, lower than the number reported on Wednesday.
