Canada Post Expanding Operations For the Holidays, Offering Tips for Parcels

Canada Post has hired four-thousand more workers and put an extra thousand vehicles on the road.

However, the agency is warning that you should expect delays if you’re mailing, or receiving, a parcel this holiday season, as it experiences unprecedented demand during the pandemic. Canada Post officials say there are more people mailing parcels and purchasing stamps than ever before, along with a sharp increase in businesses mailing their products to customers. They add they’re delivering parcels in many locations on weekends, expanding parcel pickup locations, and extending hours at some post offices to try to cope with the load.

They’re also asking people who are using the Post to be patient, kind and follow COVID guidelines while in their offices. They suggest purchasing a flat rate box for any post office and ship up to 5 kilograms to anywhere in Canada. They say they can be dropped off at post offices or their post boxes. They ask people to package everything properly, and direct people to their website for tips. For international post, they ask people to fill out their customs forms online before dropping off the package.
