Waste Reduction Week begins today in North Grenville

North Grenville Council has declared October 19th to the 25th as Waste Reduction Week in the Municipality.

North Grenville says Waste Reduction Week in Canada is held annually in October to build awareness on the benefits of sustainable practices and green approaches to waste reduction. This is the second year North Grenville proclaimed this event.

Mayor Nancy Peckford says the municipality recognizes how many residents in North Grenville care about reducing waste, conserving resources and promoting sustainable living. She says the municipality hosts one of the largest and most successful sustainability fairs in the entire region.

Councillor Kristin Strackerjan says right now is a good opportunity for residents to learn more about the benefits of waste reduction as changes are coming to the residential waste collection service.

Tips and messages to reduce the amount of waste and ways to reuse items will be shared on the municipality’s social media.
