The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit would like to see you immunized against the flu. The most common type of influenza circulating right now is H3N2. The flu shot includes a component to fight this strain, but what about those people who get the flu shot and then catch the flu anyway? As Dr. Shawn Yakimovich of the Kemptville Naturopathic Centre explains, it has something to do with the flu virus mutating:

You can boost your selenium, Dr. Shawn says, by eating a small handful of Brazil nuts each day. No flu prevention method is 100% effective, but if you want to increase your immunity and protection against the flu, you might consider getting the flu shot and backing it up with some natural flu fighters, such as ginseng.

You might consider washing your Brazil nuts down with some elderberry juice; another natural flu fighter. These can be used safely in combination with the flu shot.
