$100,000 in Provincial Funds Announced for Local Events

Some local festivals have gotten a large financial boost.
In a press release, Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands MPP Steve Clark announced $100,000 in funding that will be put directly into local festivals and special events. The largest recipient will be Kemptville Live Music Festival, with $75,000 in funding announced. The 1000 Islands Regatta will get almost $14,000, with the Delta Fair getting almost $11,000. The Big River Festival, South Grenville Bluegrass Festival and 1000 Islands Waterfront Festival will receive $3700, $3300, and $2500 respectively.
Clark has said he’s pleased with the funds released, saying that these events contribute to the economy, and a part of our way of life. He hopes that these funds ensure that these events come back strong, and is proud that the government has recognized the importance of these events.
The funding is part of provincial efforts to support the province’s economic recovery from the pandemic, according to the MPP. The funds are part of the Celebrate Ontario Program, launched by Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Minister Lisa MacLeod. The Province says it will be investing $9.75 million into more than 250 festivals and events across Ontario
