North Grenville lifting burn ban, effective tomorrow

The North Grenville Fire Service will be lifting the total burn ban effective tomorrow (Friday, May 8, 2020).

In a media release, the municipality says the decision is being made as outdoor conditions improve and the COVID-19 curve continues to flatten. If conditions are suitable, valid burn permit holders are approved to manage an open-air fire. People must validate their burning by calling the phone number on their permit.

Fire Chief John Okum thanks everyone who helped reduce the risk to the community first responders by respecting the burn ban.

Residents must have a burn permit before they have an open-air fire. Permits are $15 and available online here.

Mayor Nancy Peckford says as weather continues to improve, they’re reminding residents that while enjoying the outdoors is important for physical and mental health, COVID-19 Provincial Orders do remain in effect.

“This includes no gatherings of more than 5 people and adhering to physical distancing. We appreciate your continued co-operation.”
