North Grenville launching “2020 PITCH-IN Week -Social Distancing Edition”

Starting this Sunday and going to Sunday, April 26th will be 2020 PITCH-IN Week in North Grenville – Social Distancing Edition.

Mayor Nancy Peckford says many community members are interested in helping to clean up and beautify the community and if social distancing rules can be respected, they absolutely invite people to pitch in while they are out in their neighbourhoods or on the trails.

The Municipality is asking people taking part to choose a public area in or near their neighbourhood and stay with their immediate family members to help maintain the proper social distancing protocols.

Residents are required to register with the Municipality by calling 613-258-9569 extension 133 or email [email protected].

PITCH-IN Bags will be outside the front doors of the North Grenville Municipal Centre in an envelope with their name on it for pick up. Filled bags can be left with regular garbage pick-up.

Councillor Kristin Strackerjan there is a number of benefits to getting out for the Pitch-In event, both for the environment and your own mental health.

“Enjoying the fresh air, a bit of sunshine and helping to clean up your neighbourhood is a wonderful way to contribute to our incredible community.” This is obviously not the time for group gatherings, unfortunately, except for your immediate family.”

PITCH-IN Week usually coincides with Earth Day, April 22nd, and began in 1967 with concerned citizens picking up harmful debris along the shore of Vancouver Island.
