North Grenville closes playgrounds, sports fields

North Grenville is taking additional steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All playgrounds and sports fields in the municipality are now closed. The announcement was made today.

Mayor Nancy Peckford says it’s important to ensure the safety of residents and promote physical distancing.

The media release states that playground maintenance does not follow the same protocols as indoor equipment or facilities, so the Parks and Recreation Department can’t maintain the same level of sanitization.

The closure includes ball diamonds, tennis courts and soccer fields.

Peckford noted that council understands this is a challenging and uncertain time for families, but play equipment must be declared off limits.

Trails throughout the municipality remain open.
