Last night the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) held its annual Bantam Protected Draft at the Nepean Sportsplex. Hockey players born in 2005 who played in the Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) area were eligible for draft by the 12 teams of the CCHL.

Three players from the local area were selected in last night’s draft.

Gavin McDougall, a grade nine student at St. Michael Catholic High School, got his start in the Kemptville District Minor Hockey Association. He was selected in the 4th round by the Kemptville 73’s. McDougall played several years with the RSL Kings and this past season with the Ottawa Jr. 67’s Major Bantam AAA program.

Travis Ouellette, also in grade nine at St. Mike’s and an alumni of the North Dundas Minor Hockey Association, was taken in the 4th round by the Brockville Braves. After graduating from the North Dundas Demons, Ouelette played in both the RSL Kings and Upper Canada Cyclones programs.
